HorseNet Horse Rescue is a certified 501 (c)(3) nonprofit horse rescue and rehabilitation facility with two locations in Maryland. We DO NOT sell horses, but facilitate the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of those animals in our care. We do have some permanent residents, but strive to adopt out as many animals as possible to loving informed homes. We are 100% volunteer run and operate solely on donations. We specialize in the care of seniors and blind horses, but will accept animals, when space allows, surrendered by private owners or through state animal control facilities in any condition from any location. Click HERE to see our adoptable horses.

ADOPTION AREA: Maryland residents or individuals residing within 2.5 hours our Mt Airy Farm. We make no exceptions to this policy. (Map a distance)

Horse Donations: We are not taking any horses at this time - we are full.

EMERGENCY FUNDS NEEDED FOR ROOF & BARN REPAIR
We are in desperate need of funds to repair damages done by the recent storms. These storms have done heavy damage to the wall panels on several buildings and left one of our barns with out a roof. The storm in March left 2 of our blind horses "homeless". They are forced to stay in an oversized double stall until we can repair their roof and return them to their familiar home. With the help of Mandy Mossburg we have been able to raise some money for this repair but unfortunately we are falling short of the amount needed. Then if that wasn’t enough the horrible winds from last weeks storm tore off some wall panels to many of our barns. We are in need of financial help to complete these repairs and are unable to do the repairs with out you! Please donate today to the Emergency Repair Drive, contact Michelle for more information at 443.610.7514 or mkegel@comcast.net or mail you much needed donation today!  Make checks payable to HorseNet Horse Rescue and note for the Emergency Repair Drive and send to:

Spring Festival a Success

HorseNet would like to send a special thank you to everyone who showed their support and joined us for our 2008 Spring Festival. The Festival was a great success! Together we raised much needed funds to help care for our horses. We would also like to send a big thank you to our event sponsors.

We would like to send a big thank you to all of the volunteers who helped so much that day, especially to the ones who showed up early to help clean and set up and the ones who stayed late to help clean up! And to HorseNet's special friend Carey from Sunset Valley Farm who was nice enough to bring her big beautiful boy Toby that provided the carriage rides. A special thank you to ALL of the volunteers who helped clean and prepare the farm in advance for this special day. And of course to Nancy, Kim, Carrie the amazing food crew for making everyone's belly happy. We got so many complements on the food, just like the past years it was perfect. We could not have done this alone; it was only together that this event turned out as well as it did.

Soon we will start getting ready for our Fall Festival which will be held at the Mount Airy Farm.  If anyone is interested in being a part of the next wonderful event by helping with the preparation please contact Michelle anytime at mkegel@comcast.net - Also, don’t forget to look for the full event recap and pictures in June’s Newsletter!

10-year-old skips gifts, helps blind horses
MOUNT AIRY -- Miranda Mossburg turned 10 on April 15. Normally, that would have meant gifts from family and friends. Instead, she turned her birthday into a fundraiser to help shelter a pair of blind, old horses. Read the full story.
